First Birthday: Pro-Vis AR celebrates one year of augmented reality!

Happy Birthday Pro-Vis AR!
For the last two decades Pro-Visual Publishing Pty Ltd has been the leading specialist in wall mounted workplace health & safety, food safety & hygiene and health & wellbeing information resource Guides.

This last year, we’ve taken print to the next level, introducing Augmented Reality (AR) content into our resources. Now we have come full circle, can you believe that it’s already August?

The Guides we produce for 42 industries across Australia are still practical, informative and provide a quick reference point for staff, however we have now applied the ground-breaking AR technology that literally brings the Guide to life. And not only is it exclusive to one or two of our Guides, but we’ve implemented this technology into almost every one of our resources. And it doesn’t stop there – the content continues to grow and develop.

Pro-Visual’s Guides are designed to inform, motivate, educate and above all keep people and their workplaces safe. With the enabled AR technology, the Guides are enhanced to include entertaining, interactive and engaging content. This revolutionary concept is a window for greater information and is realistically a window to the future of how people will want to see information and absorb it.

Pro-Visual goes to second AR Meetup

On the 26th of August, Pro-Visual Publishing had the opportunity to attend the Virtual and Augmented Reality Meetup with Creative Collaborative Sydney at the MLC Building. The meetup provided the chance for Pro-Visual to showcase the National Guide to Fitness & Health and theConstruction Site Safety Guide.
First up, by way of guest speakers, was Mark Billinghurst, an expert and pioneer in AR who joined the meetup remotely via a cool double telepresence robot. Mark covered AR-based training in his presentation and informed us on how AR could be utilised in the workplace. He also spoke about intelligent AR interfaces that not only educate but also provide feedback to the user.
Second up was Jeremy Harkins from ineni Realtime, a company specialising in 3D immersive environments that can be accessed remotely and in realtime. Able to be used by facility managers and strata management, this interactive technology can replace 2D site plans. This means that building blueprints, drainage facilities, water lines, lighting and alarms can be controlled via remote access.

To finish the evening off, Callum Parker, from the University of Sydney’s Design Lab, spoke about personalised interactive public displays using AR. This technology detects body movement to allow users to interact, much like the information touch screen kiosks found in shopping centres. The difference with this technology is that you can grab the information from the kiosk and privately view it on your portable smart device.
Once the guest speakers finished up their presentations, those who attended mingled with other AR technologists and enthusiasts. It was a great opportunity to network with those leading the way in augmented reality.

For the last two decades Pro-Visual Publishing Pty Ltd has been the leading specialist in wall mounted workplace health & safety, food safety & hygiene and health and wellbeing information resource Guides.

But now, we have taken print to the next level, introducing Augmented Reality (AR) content into our resources.

What does this actually mean? Well, the Guides we produce for 42 industries across Australia are still practical and informative and provide a quick reference point for staff, however we have now applied ground-breaking AR technology that adds an additional feature which literally brings the Guide to life.

It’s been an exciting journey and we are finally here. The first ever AR capable Guide, the National Guide to Fitness & Health 2015/16 will be launched this week! Personal trainers, instructors and patrons across Australia are eagerly waiting to start using it in their daily regimes.

We’d love to hear your feedback so don’t forget to connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and visit our website here for regular updates, the latest videos and to see the latest Guides as we rollout the 2015/16 AR enabled editions.
